Fertile Ground for Healing
Who They Are & What They Do
Sonoma Pharmaceuticals is a specialty pharmaceutical company dedicated to identifying, developing and commercializing unique, affordable differentiated therapies to improve the lives of patients with dermatologic diseases or conditions.
The foundation of these products is the company’s Microcyn® Technology. Microcyn® is based on electrically charged oxychlorine small molecules designed to target a wide range of pathogens including viruses, fungi, spores and bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant strains. Several Microcyn® Technology advanced tissue care products are designed to treat infections and enhance healing while reducing the need for antibiotics.

Why Petaluma?
Sonoma Pharmaceuticals was launched in 1999 as MicroMed Labs. Since then, the company has experienced many exciting changes—including clearing stringent FDA trials, going public, and moving into new markets including dermatology and animal health.
What’s remained the same is its commitment to Sonoma County.
“A few years ago the company explored the idea of leaving the area, but employees made it clear they wanted to stay,” explains Matt Hayashi, Director of Customer Service and Territory Sales Manager . “Our talent is here, and so the company is not going to leave.”
In 2016, the company implemented a new strategic plan and rebranding effort. Again, employees were asked for input, and again, their loyalty to Sonoma County came through when Sonoma Pharmaceuticals was chosen to be the new company name.
“It’s been a rewarding experience,” says Hayashi, who grew up in the area and returned after college. “We’re pursuing our relentless passion for healing in a place we love.”
