Founder and CEO Steven Rosenblatt describes the development of Sonoma Cast Stone as “a happy accident.”
In 1996, Rosenblatt designed a series of unique concrete pavers for a house he was building for himself from recycled plastic. When architects and interior designers asked how they could get similar pavers for clients, he recognized an exciting business opportunity. Since then, Rosenblatt has expanded his product offerings, landed numerous contracts with upscale commercial customers and upscale retailers and invested heavily in R&D to spur new innovations.
Rosenblatt moved Sonoma Cast Stone to Petaluma in 2004 settling into a chicken feed-store turned manufacturing building in Petaluma’s historic district. He chose Petaluma not only for its affordability and its proximity to his home in Wine Country, but also for its character.
“Petaluma’s energy sets it apart from other cities,” says Rosenblatt. “There are fantastic restaurants, charming buildings and people committed to making it the best place possible to do business.”
Sonoma Cast Stone products have been installed in hundreds of residential commercial settings, including restaurants like California Pizza Kitchen and The Cheesecake Factory, corporate sites such as Disney and Estee Lauder, nonprofits such as the Huntington Library and numerous wineries including Napa’s famed Castello di Amorosa in Calistoga and Sonoma’s Thomas George Estates. Residential concrete products are sold through upscale luxury kitchen and bath retailers such as Restoration Hardware, as well as through its website.
