Petaluma Live Music Scene Thrives

The Petaluma live music scene offers a wide range of music choices by local and national acts, seven nights a week. And there’s a “level of community support that truly sets it apart,” according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Petaluma is home to iconic local venues like the Mystic Theatre and The Phoenix. But the city also boasts a music festivalmusic shop, jazz club and dozens of open mic nights populated by seasoned musicians.

Proximity to Oakland and San Francisco means that touring bands will open make a stop in Petaluma. In particular, the 475-seat Mystic Theatre regularly draws big-name acts.

The sense of community and musical opportunities have inspired many skilled musicians to call Petaluma home.

“You can’t throw a stick without hitting a good musician up here,” says Charles Cowles, owner of downtown’s Tall Toad Music.
