Who They Are & What They Do

Petaluma-based Jess Brown designs and produces handmade ragdolls, women’s clothing and textiles for the home. Featured in Martha Stewart Living, the Today show and other prestigious media outlets, Jess Brown products combine whimsy, function and a vintage twist. The company distributes its products globally through a wholesale network and via its website and also has a retail store on Kentucky Street in downtown Petaluma.

Petaluma is a magnet for creative people.

By the Numbers

Jess Brown, and a small team of employees, craft about 100 dolls per week. The dolls are then sent out and sold in boutiques around the world.

Why Petaluma?

Jess Brown, the business, started with Jessica Brown, the person, who moved to Petaluma with her husband and children in search of a simple, well-cherished life. When the unique, hand-stitched dolls she made for her children attracted attention from friends and boutiques in the North Bay, Brown decided to craft a business venture – and Petaluma was the natural choice.

“Petaluma is a magnet for creative people,” says Jess Brown. “We’ve come from a wide variety of places and discovered a town that supports entrepreneurialism mixed with art. Petaluma is filled with interesting people creating beautiful products.”
