Kombucha has long been popular for its health benefits. But Petaluma’s Kristine Weeks and Andrew Floraday are betting that many people would enjoy kombucha with a kick.
Weeks and Floraday are the co-founders of Hoocha Hard Kombucha, a fermented tea beverage with a higher alcohol content than a typical kombucha.
“The trick is how do you get the alcohol without losing the good natural kombucha. We played around with it,” Weeks said. “The nice thing is it’s got all the nice things kombucha has naturally, we just make it more fun.”
The new company joins what has become a thriving beer, wine and spirits scene in Petaluma.
Hoocha Hard Kombucha is having a launch party on August 2 at The Block in Petaluma. The event will include a tasting as well as live music and food.
