Minna Stess of Petaluma is well on her way to a professional skateboarding career, even though she’s only 11 years old. She’s one of only 20 asked to try out for this year’s X Games. The competition will be live streamed on on Saturday June 10.

She’s the youngest trying out. But Stess is used to being the youngest  … When she was 6, Stess was the yougest girl in in the history of the King of the Groms contest series to make the finals in street competition and qualify for the championships at 3rd Lair in Minnesota and the youngest girl to ever qualify in all 3 events. Stess has been skating since she was 2.

“She’s fearless to an extent. But she’s very smart,” says the McNear Elementary student’s father, Andrew Stess. “She knows what she’s doing. It’s not like she doesn’t fall or take slams. But having that fearlessness and competitiveness and wanting to succeed, learn those life lessons, achieving, she works really hard.”
